Eva is one to watch in the film industry…

A film tutor at Brighton Film School teaching the minor module unit to third year degree students, Eva offers wonderful insight and knowledge to BFS students. Eva said: “Brighton Film School is an exciting place to work. They are preparing students for the film industry in a fantastic way by bringing in many industry experts as well as focusing on the core of filmmaking – strong and creative storytelling. I love being a tutor here and discovering new filmmaking talent!”

Eva studied photography and film at university and decided to devote herself to filmmaking after being involved in numerous short films. After receiving funding from Creative Scotland to make her debut short film ‘Sweetheart’, she continued to explore other stories. Her other short film, Joyride, led to a BAFTA Scotland new talent award nomination.

In 2015, Eva graduated from the National Film and Television School where she studied Directing. Her graduate film ‘Patriot’ was nominated for a short film Palme d’Or. The short was about an 11-year-old living in a rural English town against a backdrop of racial tension.

Eva’s success continued to flourish with her next short film ‘Diagnosis’, funded by BBC Films. Starring Charlotte Spencer, it’s about a woman who has a secret hobby: acting in medical roleplay scenarios for trainee doctors. It has been hitting the international film festival circuit and is being screened at Warsaw, Palm Springs and Encounters.

Eva is also writing and directing her first feature film ‘Perfect Ten’ for iFeatures. The film is currently in pre-production and is about a young gymnast who becomes involved in petty crime. Shooting will begin in Summer 2018 in Brighton adding to the rich filmmaking heritage and history the Brighton and Hove district holds.

Furthermore, Eva is developing another feature, ‘The Circle’. Eva said: “My ambition is to tell stories I’m excited to tell. I guess that’s every writer-director’s dream.”

We hope to share further updates on Eva’s feature film when production begins next year.
